Iran won the U17 Boys' World Championship title after defeating France 3:1 (25:18, 25:15, 22:25, 25:12) in the final of the championship in Doha, Qatar. The Iranians finished the tournament without a single loss and claimed their first world title in this age category.
The new champions convincingly took the first two sets with 25:18 and 25:15. France narrowed the gap after a 25:22 win in the third set, but Iran did not allow a comeback and closed the final with a decisive 25:12. Sina Hazrati was the top scorer for the winners with 19 points, Arash Ashrafi added 17, and Ajvan Namazi – 16. For France, Antonin Bonnar finished with 22 points. Hazrati was subsequently named MVP of the World Championship.
The bronze medal went to Brazil, who overturned Argentina and won the third-place match 3:1 (21:25, 25:17, 25:18, 25:13). This is Brazil's first medal in the history of the U17 World Championships.
Bulgaria exited the tournament in the 1/8-finals, despite having previously won Group D without a loss. Our national team took a 2:0 lead against Venezuela, but allowed a painful comeback and lost 2:3 (30:28, 25:17, 19:25, 18:25, 12:15). Thus, our team, which until then had only victories in Doha, remained outside the Top 8.
Venezuela failed to continue the sensation and lost decisively to Brazil 0:3 (19:25, 13:25, 14:25) in the 1/4-finals.
