Bulgarian Vera Parapunova made an impressive debut in American collegiate volleyball, becoming the top scorer in Coastal Carolina's 1:3 loss to Duke (25:17, 20:25, 19:25, 23:25)1:3(25:17,20:25,19:25,23:25)at the start of the NCAA season.
The 19-year-old outside hitter started as a starter and finished with 18 successful attacks from 38 attempts with only 3 errors and 39.5% attacking efficiency. Parapunova added 10 digs in defense and 1 block for a total of 18.5 points, recording a double-double in her first official match for Coastal Carolina.
The Bulgarian was #1 in successful attacks among all players on the court. After her for Coastal Carolina was Anzlie Rinaud with 12, and the top scorer for Duke was Ashby Zubchevich with 13.
Parapunova is a freshman at Coastal Carolina University and plays with #6. The Bulgarian is a European champion U18 from 2024 and a world champion U19 from 2025.
