Bulgaria's last control matches before EuroVolley 2026 fell through

The Bulgarian men's national team will not play the two scheduled friendly matches with Serbia before the start of the European Volleyball Championship.
The matches were supposed to take place on September 1st and 2nd in Sofia and be part of the final stage of the team's preparation for EuroVolley 2026. The Bulgarian side announced that the matches would not take place, without giving a reason for the change.
Thus, the national team will not have the two scheduled tests against Serbia immediately before the European Championship.
The Bulgarian team continues its preparation as planned. On Monday, the team will move to Sofia, where it will continue its training camp until the start of EuroVolley. The boys have been given a two-day rest and will gather on Sunday evening.
Until now, Gianlorenzo Blengini's trainees were preparing in Samokov, and friendly matches with the Czech Republic were part of their program.
Bulgaria is hosting the matches from Group B of EuroVolley 2026 in Sofia, where they will face Poland, Ukraine, Portugal, Israel, and North Macedonia.
