President Rumen Radev awarded the national women's U18 volleyball team of Bulgaria with the Honorary Plaque of the President of the Republic at a solemn ceremony in the Coat of Arms Hall at "Dondukov" 2. The award is given for exceptional merits in the development of Bulgarian sports and for winning first place at the European Women's U18 Volleyball Championship a few days ago.

The ceremony was attended by the team's head coach, Antonina Zetova, and the president of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Lyubomir Ganev.

You are a bright proof that Bulgaria has and will continue to have its golden girls, and not only in rhythmic gymnastics, but also in volleyball, loved by all of us. You are the embodiment of the strength of the unyielding Bulgarian spirit and will to win, the president said.

Radev noted that just a year ago, the men's volleyball team, which won bronze medals at the World Championship in Bahrain and reminded the world of the strength of the Bulgarian volleyball school, was in the Coat of Arms Hall. Today, before us are the incredible Bulgarian girls who, after more than 40 years, once again brought a European volleyball title to our country, Radev pointed out.

He noted that they not only conquered a European peak but also brought a bright ray of hope for all Bulgarian sports and thousands of young people.

The president stated that from today, expectations for them will be even greater, for even greater successes, titles, and medals. Radev said that another responsibility falls upon them, because they are now idols for thousands of children, an example of diligence and dedication.

Never forget that many people stand behind your success - the Federation, the management and coaches of the national team, your club teams, your parents, teachers, Radev further stated. The President thanked the competitors for their drive and effort in training and their successes.

The team captain, Viktoria Ninova, presented a ball with a message and a gold medal on behalf of the players.

"It is an honor for us to defend the flag of Bulgaria. We are happy that together and united we managed to conquer the European peak," she said on behalf of the team.
