In honor of the great captain Alessia Orro: Vero Volley "retires" number 8

After five unforgettable seasons, Milano officially announced the retirement of jersey number 8, worn by Alessia Orro

"A symbolic and emotional gesture to pay tribute to one of the most representative players in the club's recent history," the team stated via its official websiteverovolley.com.

Arriving in 2020, Alessia managed to embody the spirit of Vero Volley on and off the court: leadership, dedication, passion, and a crystalline dose of class - all of this made fans fall in love with the beauty. With her as setter, the team achieved historic goals, including 3 Scudetto finals, 1 Champions League final, 3 Italian Cup finals, and 2 Italian Super Cup finals.

In total, Orro, wearing the Milanese jersey, recorded over 200 appearances in the championship, Italian Cup, Italian Super Cup, and European Cups.

The number 8, now inextricably linked to her name, will never again be worn by any other player. This is a tribute to her career, but also to the special bond created with the cities of Monza and Milan, with president Alessandra Marzari, and with the supporters of Vero Volley.

To all volleyball fans and enthusiasts: today we are not celebrating just a number, but a history built on dedication and heart.

Thank you, Alessia! Your jersey will be with us forever!

As already became clear during this year's Champions League finals in Istanbul, the beautiful Olympic champion from Paris 2024 will continue her career there - with the Fenerbahçe team.
