🟡🟢 The situation around Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Karol Butryn's injury is developing dynamically!
After the club officially initiated a procedure for amedical transfer, the news that appeared in volleyball circles today came from Polish journalist Jakub Balcerzak, who posted on X:
💣 Georg Grozer is the most serious candidate to replace Butryn in the Zawiercie squad!
The legendary German oppositefinished his season in Turkey yesterday, as he was part of Arcas Spor Ankara, and according to information, he is about to reinforce Michal Winiarski's team exactly at the most crucial moment of the season.
Initially, Grozer was expected to participate in the Asian Club Championship – KMA 2025 with the Shanghai team, but the offer from PlusLiga and the real chance for a title seem to have rearranged his priorities.
If the transfer takes place, Warta Zawiercie will not just get a replacement for Butryn, but a real weapon – Grozer is a two-time German champion, a trophy winner from Qatar and China, with over 300 matches for the German national team.
‼️ This, however, may turn out to be more complicated than it seems at first glance. According to the PlusLiga rules:
🔹 the transfer can only be made if the player has not participated in the league in the current season; this does not apply to Grozer.
🔹 the limit for foreign players on the court must be observed – in the first final for Zawiercie, three foreigners already played: Miguel Tavares, Luke Perry, and Kyle Ensing.
Due to these limitations, the options for the sports and technical staff are severely restricted. It is not excluded that the club may also seek a Polish player with a valid medical clearance to join the squad immediately.
The problems don't end there – due to the aforementioned limit, Aaron Russell could not be used, even though he had started his recovery. In his place, coach Michal Winiarski opted for Patryk Łaba.
📅 The second match of the final series is this Saturday in Lublin. The opponent is BOGDANKA – the team of the captain of the Bulgarian national team, Alex Grozdanov.
The stakes are huge, and if Georg Grozer arrives in Zawiercie on time, the PlusLiga finals will take on a whole new dimension.
