Protests in Sofia with the participation of VC CSKA: Fans fight for the name of metro station "Sports Complex CSKA", plan new blockades

Representatives and fans of CSKA Volleyball Club actively participated in the protests against the Sofia municipal councilors, which have been ongoing for several days. The main reason for the dissatisfaction is the refusal of the Sofia Municipal Council to name one of the stops of the newly built metro line "CSKA Sports Complex". For now, the proposal is for the station to remain named "Shipchenski Prohod".

Fans of the "red club" demonstrated their disagreement with various tactics. On one of the evenings, they blocked traffic on "Dragan Tsankov" Boulevard by massively and continuously crossing the pedestrian crossing in front of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), after the police took measures at Orlov Most. Another part of the protesters headed towards the intersection in front of the Romanian embassy.

Although some sources indicate a third vote on the name of the stop is scheduled for May 15, fans stated that they will not stop the protests because they feel deceived.

Future, larger-scale actions are also planned. A bigger protest is scheduled for CSKA's birthday, and if the situation remains unchanged, even larger blockades will take place on May 22 before and after the cup final.

CSKA fans remain firm in their demand for recognition of the sports complex through a metro station name.
