CSKA fans and volleyball players protest: they want metro station "SC CSKA" instead of "Shipchenski Prohod"

Supporters of the CSKA football club gathered today for a protest in the area of the 4th Kilometer in Sofia, demanding that the future metro station on line M3 be named"SC CSKA", as proposed by the mayor of the capital, Vasil Terziev.

The demonstration also includedplayers from the CSKA women's volleyball team, who carried a banner with the inscription:"SC - Bulgarian Sports Glory!". Their presence strengthened the sports image of the protest and highlighted the complex's connection to the club's long-standing traditions in various sports, including volleyball.

⚠️ Currently, there isincreased police presencein the area, and traffic on Blvd."Tsarigradsko Shose"is difficult in both directions.

A similar protest took place on April 25, withtensions escalating on April 24during a meeting of the Sofia Municipal Council. Municipal councilors rejected the idea, arguing that a specific club should not be prioritized, and the name "Shipchenski Prohod" was consideredgeographically more appropriate, as it reflects the actual location of the metro station.

👉 The topic is expected to continue to cause controversy, especially among the sports community and fans of the 'Army Men,' who insist that the name"SC CSKA"is not only appropriate, but also necessary due to the historical and sporting significance of the sites in the area.
