In "Kolodruma" hall, the champion is clear, while his runner-up is yet to be determined
Yesterday, 4 more matches were played in Plovdiv. Here's what happened on the fifth day of EuroVolley 2024 in Group B:
1. Greece – Spain 0:3 (16:25, 19:25, 22:25)
"La Furia Roja" once again dominated this championship, with our southern neighbor falling as their "victim" this time. The Spaniards crushed the Greeks in the first game, leaving them with 16 points. In the second set, the Iberians again showed their superior class and took a 2:0 lead after 25:19. In the third, the game became more even, but Spain did not allow any surprises. The team celebrated a clean 3:0 victory after 25:22, continuing to hold sole possession of second place in Group B with 12 points, as Italy is firmly first and a sure semi-finalist with 15. The Greeks, on their part, remain with one win, having lost their chances to qualify for next year's U19 World Championship.

2. Romania – Estonia 1:3 (23:25, 23:25, 31:29, 25:27)
The Baltic country secured its first success at EuroVolley 2024 for U18 boys, after defeating our northern neighbors with 3:1 sets. The first and second sets proceeded and ended identically – 25:23, giving Estonia a comfortable 2:0 lead. The third set turned into a real drama, after which Romania survived – 31:29. The fourth set again offered an evenly matched game, as was characteristic of the entire match, but in the end, the Estonians snatched both the set and the match after 27:25. The Balts have no chance of qualifying for the World Cup, but Romania is in an even more unsatisfactory position – remaining the only team without a win in the group.

3. Slovenia – Italy 0:3 (21:25, 10:25, 15:25)
"Squadra Azzurra" sealed its first place in Plovdiv after sweeping Slovenia with another decisive victory. Only the first game offered some intrigue – at the beginning, the Slovenians were even the team leading the score, but gradually Italy imposed its game and won the set with 25:21. The second set was crushing – the "Azzurri" took it after a devastating 25:10. The third proceeded in an identical manner, this time Slovenia managing to score 15 points. Italy is now calmly looking towards the EuroVolley 2024 semi-finals as the group leader, awaiting its opponent – most likely it will be the team of Poland. Slovenia, on its part, lost almost all chances for second place, but is still in the running for the distribution of quotas for next year's World Cup.

4. Belgium – Czech Republic 3:1 (25:18, 23:25, 25:21, 25:18)
The Flemish continue their chase with Spain for second place in Group B, which would lead them to a semi-final clash with France, who will almost certainly be first in the Sofia group. Before their match, both rivals had equal chances for qualification, as Belgium and the Czech Republic were in third and fourth position with 8 and 7 points respectively. The match started much better for the Flemish, who took a 1:0 lead in sets after 25:18. The second set went to the Czechs – a 1:1 tie after 25:23. In the third set, Belgium regained the lead, winning it 25:21, and in the fourth, they finished what they started and closed the match after 25:18 and 3:1. In this way, Belgium jumped to 11 points and pulled away by 4 from the Czech Republic. The Flemish are hot on the heels of Spain, who are second with 12, but on the last day of the group stage, they face a direct clash that could be decisive for the fate of the second semi-finalist from Group B. Italy, who is Belgium's next opponent, will also play an important role in this dispute. If the Italians decide to conserve energy for the finals, the situation in the group will become very interesting.
