The men's national team camp starts today. The available players underwent medical examinations yesterday, with training sessions most likely to be held in the Levski Sofia hall. For now, it's a secret who is participating in the training. The presence of the top scorer of Italian A3 Hristiyan Dimitrov and Toulouse's middle blocker Iliya Petkov is known. Dimitrov has already re-signed with the Italian team but is expected to seek other international opportunities, having meanwhile received several offers from Bulgaria, which he refused. Italian media reported that Petkov will reinforce newcomer Grottazzolina. After a short break, Asparuh Asparuhov, who will play in Poland from the new season, will join the camp, most likely directly in Samokov. After resting, as his matches in Italy ended last weekend, Georgi Tatarov's arrival is also expected. Martin Bozhilov is not among the starting players, it became clear yesterday. The experienced libero is not averse to the idea of helping, but is still contemplating. He might join the team for some of the VNL tournaments, but he is unlikely to last a full 5 months. After this "flight" over Damyan Kolev's advertising boards, his inclusion in the national teams will not be a surprise. Neftochimic's new, still officially unconfirmed, libero, Simeon Dobrev, will probably not be among those called up. Unfortunately, probability theory is strongly present in this material, as the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) has not yet released an official list, as most volleyball powers on the continent have done.
The national team's camp officially starts on May 5th in Samokov. All these assumptions about who will be present in the A and B teams of the country may be dropped today, when the meeting of the BVF's Managing Board takes place.
