Long Beach State and Hawaii learned their opponents on the road to the NCAA Championship Final Four

The NCAA Men's Volleyball Committee announced the field for the 2025 National Collegiate Championship, outlining the nine teams' path to the title. After being ranked #1 nationally for the past 13 weeks,Long Beach Stateearned a berth asthe No. 1 seedin the tournament. This isthe 15th appearancefor the Beach in the NCAA Tournament in program history andthe eighth in the last nine seasons.

The Long Beach State team (27-3) will start directly from the quarterfinals, facing eighth-seededFort Valley State(16-9), the SIAC champion. Their quarterfinal match is scheduled forThursday, May 8, at 5:00 PM ET (12:00 AM or midnight on Friday, May 9, Bulgarian time)at the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The Big West champion, the team from theUniversity of Hawaii, which is seededNo. 2overall and secured an automatic bid, also starts directly from the quarterfinals. Their opponent will bethe winner of the first-round match between Northeast Conference champion Daemen (host) and EIVA champion Penn State. This first-round match will be played on Friday, May 2.

In the other quarterfinal pairs, we will see:

  • No. 3 UCLA (two-time defending champion, "wild card") vs. No. 6 Belmont Abbey (Conference Carolina champion).

  • No. 4 Loyola Chicago (MIVA champion) vs. No. 5 Pepperdine (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation champion).

All quarterfinal matches are onThursday, May 8, in Columbus, Ohio.The semifinalsare scheduled forSaturday, May 10, andthe tournament final—forMonday, May 12. All matches from the quarterfinals onward will take place in Columbus, Ohio.

Important information for fans is thatall six matches – the quarterfinals and semifinals – will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

For Hawaii, this will be their 10th appearance in the NCAA Championship. The "Rainbow Warriors" have two national titles (2021 and 2022) and four consecutive Final Four appearances (2019-2023). Long Beach State and UCLA received the two "wild card" spots.

In 2024, UCLA defeated Long Beach 3-1 to win its 21st national title.
