Bulgaria remained 27th in the world before today's match with Greece

The Bulgarian women's national team maintained its 27th position in the FIVB world ranking after the matches of the second day of the three continental championships. Today, Marcello Abbondanza's team faces Greece in their second match of Pool B of EuroVolley 2026 in Brno.
The match Greece – Bulgaria starts at 5:00 PM and will be broadcast live on bTV Action.
Bulgaria made a significant leap in the rankings after an excellent start to the European Championship and a 3:0 (25:23, 25:23, 25:20) victory over Ukraine. The success brought the national team 12.91 points and increased their total from 136.02 to 148.92 points. Thus, Bulgaria climbed four positions – from 31st to 27th place.
After the matches of the second day, Bulgaria remains No. 27 in the world with 148.92 points. Immediately after the national team is Hungary, which occupies 28th place with 147.51 points, and our opponent today, Greece, is now No. 29 with 142.85 points.
The Greek women climbed in the standings after a dramatic 3:2 (25:23, 23:25, 12:25, 25:22, 15:10) victory over Ukraine. Their success brought them 7.23 points for the world ranking.
Thus, both teams enter today's match after victories over the same opponent. Bulgaria dealt with Ukraine in three sets, while Greece had to go through a five-set battle. For the national team, limiting the 202-centimeter Antouli stands out as one of the main tasks for the Bulgarian block.
In the evening, attention in Brno will also be focused on the clash between the favorites in the group, Serbia and the Czech Republic. The match is at 8:00 PM and its result will also be important for the development of the battle for the top positions in Pool B.
