Volleyball Club Beroe 2016 was honored with a plaque by Stara Zagora Municipality in recognition of its successful performance during the 2024/2025 season in the National Volleyball League men - efbet Super Volley. The team from Stara Zagora finished the season in a prestigious fourth place and, for the first time in its history, secured participation in European club tournaments.
The special award ceremony took place yesterday in the "P. R. Slaveykov" hall. The award was presented to the club's president, Zhivko Zhelev, by Deputy Mayor Radostin Tanev, in the presence of Petko Krumov, head of the "Sports Activities" department.
On behalf of Stara Zagora Municipality, Deputy Mayor Tanev expressed the city's pride in having a representative in European volleyball. He congratulated the team on its fully deserved success and emphasized the importance of the club's existence and development. Radostin Tanev also highlighted the full hall of children during Beroe's matches, defining it as the greatest recognition for the club's work and pointing out the players as a true example and inspiration for the youth. The Municipality's commitment to continue supporting the club was also confirmed.
The president of VC Beroe 2016, Zhivko Zhelev, expressed sincere gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the key role of support from the local government, especially the provision of sports facilities, which are the team's "home". He stated that the club strives to repay the trust with perseverance, effort, and achieved results. Zhelev also outlined the team's future ambitions – in addition to a worthy performance in Europe, the goal is to reach the final and compete for the championship title in the Bulgarian league in the coming years.
Beroe 2016's head coach, Miroslav Zhivkov, also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success – from the management to the staff and players. He praised the boys for their dedication, discipline, and hard work throughout the season, acknowledging that there is always more to learn and improve, but he firmly stated that "the big step has already been made" with the qualification for European tournaments.
