The Disciplinary Commission of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) imposed financial sanctions on two representatives of the Levski team after the first final clash for the men's championship title against Lokomotiv Avia. The news was announced tovolleyweek.bgby the chairman of the commission, Ivan Piperkov.
The sanctioned individuals are the 'blues' head coach Nikolay Zhelazkov and captain Svetoslav Gotsev. The decision was made based on the protocol from the federation's supervisor. It states that Zhelazkov and Gotsev reacted too vehemently to referee decisions during the match. Specifically for captain Gotsev, it was noted that he also allowed himself to hit the side post near the second referee, as a result of which the referee's auxiliary tablet fell to the ground.
The Disciplinary Commission took into account the nature of the matches - a final for the title - and deliberately limited itself to imposing only financial sanctions. The goal is not to affect the outcome of the final series by removing those who committed offenses.
At the same time, the commission emphasizes that there was a need for a more timely reaction from the refereeing team during the match. According to them, there were situations that required the showing of cards, but none were raised. This decision by the first referee, Iliyan Georgiev, for whom this was his last match in his career, was probably also influenced by the desire not to escalate the tension in the final match.

The first match of the final series was won by Levski, who lead with 1:0 wins. The second match for the championship title between the two teams is scheduled for today, April 24, 2025.
