Interesting matches took place in the "Kolodruma" hall, with two of them concluding after a tie-break.
After yesterday's rest day at the European Championship in Plovdiv, another 4 matches were played. Here's what happened on the fourth day of EuroVolley 2024 in Group B:
1. Spain - Romania 3:0 (25:19, 25:22, 25:19)
The Iberians won the first match of the day against our northern neighbors. "La Furia Roja" didn't have significant problems with the Romanians – the first game was calmly won with 25:19. The second set offered more intrigue, as the likeable Romanian team showed its "teeth". Despite this, Spain managed to take the second set after 25:22. The third ended like the first – another 25:19 and another victory for the Iberians on their way to the semi-finals of EuroVolley 2024 for U18 boys. Spain pulled away to second place with 9 points, thus becoming a major favorite to be Italy's runner-up in this group. For Romania, this was their fourth consecutive loss, having won only one set – in their debut match against Belgium at the championship.

2. Czech Republic - Slovenia 2:3 (25:23, 21:25, 25:21, 23:25, 9:15)
This match was one of the two spectacles not only in the group and for the day, but also in the entire tournament so far. The encounter between the Czechs and Slovenians offered extremely great emotions for the players and fans, with the opponents also demonstrating very good quality of volleyball skills. The Czech Republic took the lead first after an evenly matched game – 25:23. The second set went to Slovenia, who equalized after 25:21. The players from the lands of Bohemia and Moravia again took the lead after a mirrored third set to the second – 25:21. The Slovenian national team again restored equality after the end of the fourth set – 25:23. However, the tie-break was not as intriguing as the previous sets – after 15:9, Slovenia achieved a full comeback and took a sweet 3:2 victory over the Czech Republic. For the Czechs, this loss meant only one thing – the team was moving further away from Spain in the battle for second place and a spot in the semi-finals of EuroVolley 2024 for U18 boys, which will be held in Sofia.

3. Italy - Greece 3:0 (25:20, 25:18, 25:17)
"Squadra Azzurra" achieved another easy victory in their group, with the likeable Greek team falling "under the knife" of the Italians this time. Italy secured their fourth win from four matches without having to play at the peak of their abilities. The "Hellenes", for their part, could not resist their far superior opponent. The "Azzurri" convincingly won all three games played in the match, scoring 20, 18, and 17 points respectively. In this way, Italy continues to sprint alone at the top of Group B, with 12 points and a set ratio of 12:1. "Squadra Azzurra", whose squad includes the name of Manuel Zlatanov – son of Hristo Zlatanov and grandson of Dimitar Zlatanov, can now calmly prepare for their upcoming participation in the semi-finals at "Levski Sofia" hall. What is important for Italy, however, is not to relax, even though they hold their fate entirely in their own hands in the group.

4. Estonia - Belgium 2:3 (28:26, 19:25, 19:25, 30:28, 11:15)
This wonderful match concluded the fourth competition day of the EuroVolley 2024 program in Plovdiv. The Baltic country snatched a great first set after 28:26. This annoyed the Belgians, who activated to win the second and third parts with 19 points each. The negative development and comeback, however, did not break the brave Estonians, who again clung to their opponent in the fourth set. This tenacity paid off wonderfully for Estonia, who earned success after another memorable result – 30:28. The tie-break also offered interesting play, but ultimately Belgium was the team that showed stronger nerves and closed the match after a 15:11 victory. The Flemings climbed to third in the group after this success, tying with the Slovenians, as they surpassed the Czech team by one point. Belgium and Slovenia both have 8 points, while the Czechs have 7. All three countries have chances for second place, but Spain is the big favorite for the position with 9 points. However, the battle in Group B promises to be extremely interesting until its very end.
