Former head coach of the Bulgarian women's national team, Lorenzo Micelli, now at the helm of the Swedish women's national team, has announced the expanded roster for the upcoming 2025 World Championship and the final four of the European Golden League, which the country will host.
Micelli, who also coaches the women's team of Olympiacos (Greece), took over Sweden after the summer of 2024, when his contract with the Bulgarian federation expired. He succeeded his compatriot Giulio Bregoli, under whose leadership the Scandinavians won the historic Golden League title. With new energy and a clear vision for the future, Sweden is preparing for its debut on the world stage.
Among those called up by Micelli are Isabella and Anna Haak – the star sisters who were instrumental in the dramatic 3:2 victory over Bulgaria in the Euro 2021 Round of 16 in Plovdiv – a match that Bulgarian fans will hardly forget. 💔
📋 Expanded roster for Sweden (2025):
🔹 Setters: Anna Harlin, Ella Sandberg, Emmi Gustafsson, Hilda Gustafsson, Sonja Rundcrantz, Tyra Areskoug
🔹 Outside Hitters: Alexandra Lazić, Anna Haak, Cecilia Malm, Ebba Welander, Elin Andersson, Elin Larsson, Hanna Hellvig, Isabelle Haak, Kerstin Wolf-Watz, Maja Tabron, Paulina Lindberg, Sabrina Finizi, Saga Nilsson

After the Golden League title and with a new coach at the helm, the Swedes are ambitious to make a strong impression at the world forum. Time will tell if Lorenzo Micelli is the right person for this new chapter in Swedish volleyball history. 🏐🌍
