Moni Nikolov after the victory over Hawaii: "We just had to minimize our mistakes, I don't know if I'll stay"

Long Beach State setter Moni Nikolov commented on the 3-1 away victory against Hawaii - one of the strongest home teams in college volleyball.

🗣️"It wasn't a very pretty match. We struggled a bit in the third set. We knew they would respond after the break, but we just needed to organize our game better. Even when we were trailing in the fourth set, we told ourselves that they weren't doing anything spectacular. So we minimized our errors - and that brought us the win."

Although he admitted that he played while sick and hadn't been able to train fully, Moni played an important role in the success:

🙌"It's my first time playing in America. The atmosphere in the hall was incredible, as were the fans. I'm glad that even without being in top form, I helped the team. I hope to perform even better tomorrow."

Regarding the rematch with Hawaii, Nikolov was categorical:

🎯"It doesn't matter if we win in three, four, or five sets. We just have to go out as if we had lost. To be a team and to win."

And as for his future and a possible departure after the season?

🤐"I can't say anything, I'm sorry."
