National player Iliya Petkov is joining the Italian club Grottazzolina. After a successful season in Toulouse, Petkov will debut in Italy's SuperLega, marking his first experience in Italian volleyball. This is according to Italian journalist Giuliano Bindoni. Petkov will replace Deny Demianenko in the middle, who moved to Polish Rzeszów. This addition comes at a time when two other Bulgarians, Georgi Tatarov and Denis Bardarov, are already playing for Grottazzolina, although there is no information yet on whether they will remain with the team next season. "For now, I can't comment," Petkov said succinctly. Grottazzolina continues to build a squad that combines experience and young talent. Along with Petkov, the club will add several other key acquisitions. Among them is Serbian setter Vuk Todorović from Padova. Dutch middle blocker Fabian Plak, also from Padova, is also expected. Grottazzolina will also rely on Marco Falaschi, who arrives from Pisa and is expected to form a key tandem with opposite Petkovic, in shaping their play. They will be joined by 23-year-old Giulio Magalini, who, after two seasons in the shadow of big names at Trento, will have a chance to prove his potential at Grottazzolina as a starting outside hitter. With the arrival of two new setters, the possibility of Simeon Nikolov being an option for this Italian team, as was previously rumored, has been ruled out.
