Matthew Anderson is one of the best volleyball players in recent years. He has been a pillar of the US national team for almost two decades. During his career, he has played in Russia and Italy, and now he competes in Turkey. Despite offers from PlusLiga, he has never moved to Poland.
"I still think the Russian league is the strongest. I had offers from Poland, but I chose what was best for me and my family," he shared with the Polish website interia.pl.
Anderson was the star of Ziraat Bankası Ankara in the first CEV Cup final match against Asseco Resovia. The American scored 28 points, received the MVP award, and earned applause even from the fans in Rzeszów.
The player, who will soon turn 38, has an ambitious goal – to participate in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028, when he will be 41!
"My goal is to play at the Olympics in 2028, so I need to be in shape, but also take care of my health. This is behind the decisions I make," Anderson revealed.
