Bogdanka LUK Lublin increased their chances for a PlusLiga medal after defeating ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle as guests in the second quarterfinal with a score of 0:3 (15:25, 21:25, 20:25). The hosts, weakened by the absence of Bartosz Kurek, could not withstand their opponents. Wilfredo Leon was the leader for Lublin with 21 points (2 aces, 2 blocks), and with his participation in attack (63%) and serving, they secured an important victory. Qualification for the semifinals will be decided on Sunday in Lublin.
In the first quarterfinal, Lublin lost after winning the first set but was dominated by ZAKSA.
In the second match, they had no room for error and played flawlessly. ZAKSA was severely weakened by the absence of Kurek, who suffered a back injury in the last practice. Szymanski's absence also hampered the hosts.
Lublin started strong in the first set, with Leon setting the pace in attack, and the opponent had no answer. The second set began similarly, although ZAKSA showed some signs of recovery. However, then an unfortunate incident occurred – at a score of 16:9, the Bulgarian middle blocker – Aleksandar Grozdanov, jumped for a block. Unfortunately, he landed badly, with initial indications pointing to an ankle sprain.

The Bulgarian had to leave the court, and physiotherapists immediately attended to him.

Alex was replaced by Jan Nowakowski. Nevertheless, Lublin continued to dominate and won the second set as well.
ZAKSA did not give up and narrowed the gap in the third set, but Leon intervened again with key points and serves. Ultimately, Bogdanka LUK finished the match with a 25:21 victory in the third set and qualified for the decisive match that will determine the winner.
The match is best of two wins, and the next encounter on Sunday will decide who qualifies for the semifinals, with JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel already awaiting the winner.
Before his injury, Grozdanov had 1 point to his name. His substitute Nowakowski finished with 2. As for Grozdanov's injury, it leaves his future participation in the remaining matches undetermined, as this will depend on the severity of the injury.
