Lokomotiv Avia officially presented one of its most anticipated new additions for the 2026/27 season. After a certain absence from volleyball, former national player Rozalin Penchev will once again be on the court, donning the black and white jersey of the Plovdiv club. This was officially announced by Lokomotiv Avia on social media.
For the readers ofVolleyWeek.bgthis news comes as no surprise. Already onJune 6thwe were the first to announce that Lokomotiv Avia was in advanced negotiations with Rozalin Penchev and Dobromir Dimitrov, revealing that both were very close to signing with the Plovdiv club.
Now, nearly two months later, the club has formalized the transfer of the 31-year-old receiver, who returns to the volleyball court after a career break.
Penchev is among the most experienced Bulgarian volleyball players of his generation. Throughout his career, he has played in some of the strongest leagues in the world, wearing the jerseys of clubs in Poland, Italy, Russia, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, France, Qatar, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates. In Bulgaria, he last played for Neftochimic 2010. Penchev reunites with another former national player, Dobromir Dimitrov, with whom he played at Neftochimic.

With the signing of Penchev, Lokomotiv Avia continues to build an ambitious squad for the new season. So far, the Plovdiv club has already secured the signature of setter Dobromir Dimitrov, and also retained Alex Nikolov, Julien Georgiev, Martin Ivanov, Ivaylo Damyanov, and Trifon Lapkov in their ranks.
