No. 3 Hawaii snapped its 10-match winning streak after a 1-3 (21-25, 20-25, 28-26, 21-25) loss to No. 5 USC in the final of the 29th OUTRIGGER Invitational tournament.
The OUTRIGGER Invitational is one of the most prestigious annual tournaments in collegiate volleyball, organized by the University of Hawaii. The event brings together top teams from various conferences and is held at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
Krystian Tytryski was the top scorer in the match with 25 points (1 ace, 1 block), but made 12 attacking errors.Opposite him, USC's Dillon Klein shone, finishing with 21 points on 58.8% efficiency and earning the Tournament MVP award.
Aidan Ruybalid added 17 points for the Warriors with 45.2% attacking efficiency, while setter Tread Rosenthal recorded 53 assists and two aces. Hawaii led in the fourth set, but a seven-point run for the Trojans decided the match.
USC triumphed with its first OUTRIGGER title, and the All-Tournament Team included Ruybalid and Rosenthal from Hawaii, as well as three USC players, among them Klein.
Hawaii returns to action on March 28 against UC San Diego in a conference match.
