Like a bolt from the blue (or almost). According to initial information from volleyball.it, Rana Verona has released Radostin Stoychev from his position as head coach. He is the only removed employee of the club. Former assistant Dario Simoni will lead the team on Sunday for the second match of the playoff series against Piacenza. In the first match, Verona lost 1:3, with Rok Mozic not playing for the team, and star Keita having an episodic appearance. Official confirmation of this news is expected.
The story dates back to early January, when Stoychev had an altercation with a VIP fan of Lube, during Verona's away game against Civitanova. There is a possibility that the change also occurred under the pressure of key players in the team. The story strikingly resembles Stoychev's dismissal from Modena in April 2018, when stars Ngapeth and Bruno Rezende turned against him.
