Aleksandra Saykova is officially a new signing for Portuguese giants Benfica. The news was announced by the club, which presented the 22-year-old middle blocker as one of its new additions for the 2026/2027 season.
Saykova is 187 cm tall and arrives in Lisbon to strengthen the Eagles' net play, with Benfica emphasizing her physical power and blocking effectiveness.
The Bulgarian's career began at CSKA, where she came through the club's academy and established herself as one of the leading players in the women's team. She then gained international experience with Romanian club CSU Medicina Târgu Mureș, and in recent years has been an integral part of Bulgaria's various national squads. In 2024, Saykova also participated in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) with the country's national team.

Besides the Portuguese championship, Aleksandra Saykova will also have the opportunity to compete on the European stage. Benfica will participate in the CEV Challenge Cup, starting their campaign from the Round of 32 against the future winner of the Balkan Volleyball Cup (BVA Cup) – a tournament involving clubs from Balkan countries that did not receive a direct quota for European club competitions. The first matches are scheduled for October 27-29, and the return legs will take place between November 3 and 5.
