Dragan Travica, the son of the new Piacenza coach Dragan Travica, will join the team as a replacement for Poro, according to volleyball.it. In the "After Hours" show, in a conversation with Andrea Zorzi and Andrea Brogioni, Travica confirmed that the rumors linking him to Piacenza for the 2025-26 season are true. The experienced setter, who currently plays for Olympiacos, expressed his desire to end his career in Italy – the country where he started his professional journey. He admitted that he and his wife want to be closer to home and that he misses Italy from a volleyball perspective.
In February 2025, Dragan's father, Ljubomir Travica, was appointed head coach of the Italian club Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. This marks his return to the club after 20 years, having led the team to first place in the regular season during the 2004/05 season. An interesting fact is that both of them share the same agent.

Dragan Travica, an Italian volleyball player with Croatian roots, was born on August 28, 1986, in Zagreb. He plays as a setter. His career began in Italy, where he debuted for the national team in 2007. With the national team, he won silver medals at the European Championships in 2011 and 2013, as well as a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
Despite his many years of experience, Travica stated that a coaching career does not appeal to him. Instead, he prefers to be a sports director or team manager because he believes that coaching requires too much patience. According to him, the role of veterans in the team is not only to be ready when needed but also to bring calmness and experience in difficult moments, as well as to support young players with useful advice and motivation.
