The legendary outside hitter from Cuba continues to play at a high level in Italy
The 44-year-old Cuban volleyball player Leonel Marshall will be part of the Ortona team, which was relegated to Serie A3, for the new 2024/25 season. The legendary outside hitter decided to renew his contract with the Italian team for another year, according tovolleyball.it.
Born in the distant year 1979, Marshall remains an active legend in world volleyball, as well as an idol for generations of volleyball players. The Cuban shone on the international stage at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, becoming the youngest volleyball player (20 years old) from the 'Island of Freedom' to debut under the 'Five Intertwined Rings'.
Leonel Marshall will continue to lead "Ortona" with the captain's armband. We remind you that last season, Bulgarian volleyball players Trifon Lapkov and Dobromir Dimitrov also played for the Italian team.
