Perugia overturned Modena and took the lead in the series

Sir Susa Vim Perugia won 3-1 (23-25, 32-30, 25-22, 25-18) against Valsa Group Modena in the first quarter-final match of the Italian SuperLega playoffs.

Modena started better, won the first set and was one step away from 2-0, but Perugia showed character, dramatically snatched the second set with 32-30 and then imposed their will. The MVP of the match was setter Simone Giannelli, who led his team to victory with excellent serving and game organization.

Ben Tara and Semeniuk finished with 16 points each, while Plotnytskyi added 15. Oleh Plotnytskyi impressed with 12 points and 75% attack efficiency. For Modena, Davyskiba was the top scorer with 19 points, followed by Buchegger (17) and Gutierrez (14). Perugia's new acquisition, Polish middle blocker Łukasz Usowicz, who replaced the injured Russo, briefly entered in the second set.

Perugia took the lead in the series and will seek another success in the next match, while Modena will try to get back into the fight.
