Perugia signed a Polish center "in a hurry" due to Russo's injury

Polish middle blocker Łukasz Usowicz arrived in Perugia yesterday, greeted by President Gino Sirci, coach Angelo Lorenzetti, and the rest of the staff and team, volleyball.it reported. Usowicz was recruited in record time to compensate for Roberto Russo's absence and, in this final stage of the season, will wear jersey number 12, marking his absolute debut in the Italian championship.

Łukasz Usowicz comes directly from GKS Katowice, a club that was relegated from PlusLiga to the second Polish division this year. The opportunity to join the SuperLega with the Perugia team was a big surprise for him:
"After such a difficult season in Katowice, I didn't expect to be able to come to one of the most important teams in Italy. I hope to live up to the coach's expectations and help the club achieve its goals."

Usowicz, 27 years old and 203 cm tall, will reinforce Perugia's middle blocker position, providing a valuable contribution in weekly training sessions as well. Speaking about his characteristics, he emphasized his value in blocking:
"I consider myself an offensive middle blocker. I feel comfortable in attack, but blocking is one of my strengths. I hope to prove it on the court."

After meeting his new teammates, the Polish middle blocker visited Palabarton Energy together with his compatriot Kamil Semeniuk, which made the excitement of his arrival in Umbria even more palpable:
"I already feel that the atmosphere here is on a very high level and that the fans will be happy. I can't wait to play in front of them. From Poland, I followed several matches of Sir Susa Vim Perugia and the warmth of the crowd is incredible. Also, the club is very organized; I have never had the opportunity to be part of such a structured club. Since I learned about this opportunity, I haven't been able to sleep from excitement."

Łukasz Usowicz's debut in the Italian SuperLega is eagerly awaited and could come as early as against Modena in the quarter-final playoff matches starting tomorrow.
