Roma Volley, the team that faced Levski Sofia in the CEV Challenge Cup round of 16 this season, has officially been relegated from the Italian volleyball elite. The club finished the season with a disappointing result, despite the efforts of the players, coaching staff, and management.
In November and December 2024, Roma Volley and Levski met in the Challenge Cup knockout phase. The Italian team won both matches – first 3:1 in Sofia, and then again 3:1 in Rome, securing its place in the quarter-finals.
However, the season was not favorable for Roma in Serie A1. The team faced a number of problems, including injuries and financial instability after the withdrawal of some sponsors. In an official statement, the club emphasized that it would analyze its mistakes, but categorically rejected claims that the relegation was intentional.
Despite the disappointment, Roma Volley continues its participation in European club tournaments and will play the first match of the CEV Challenge Cup final against Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76 on Tuesday. This will be the team's last chance to finish the season with an honor.
