Tsvetan Sokolov - Bryanskiy's choice for the Russian national team

Russian volleyball continues to live in isolation from the international scene, but this does not stop analyses of the local championship's capabilities and the national team's potential. The head coach of "Sbornaya", Konstantin Bryansky, recently made an interesting analysis of the situation for "BO Sport", pointing out which foreign legionnaires would make it into the Russian national team if it were up to him.Among the chosen names (setter Micah Christenson, libero Jenia Grebennikov, Lauri Kerminen, and Santiago Danani) the Bulgarian opposite Tsvetan Sokolov stands out.

Recognition for Sokolov's class

Bryansky only selected players who are currently competing in the Russian championship, and Sokolov's place among them seems indisputable. The Bulgarian opposite, who plays for Dynamo (Moscow), is among the best scorers in the league and shows high class in attack. He combines power, technique, and stability in key moments – qualities that are invaluable for any national team.

"Our reception is one hundred percent Russian, and the middle blockers are the best in the world. But if we need to look for reinforcement, an opposite like Sokolov would be a huge plus for any team," Bryansky hinted, emphasizing that the Bulgarian would be a serious asset for Russia.

What would Sokolov bring to Russia?

Tsvetan Sokolov is a proven player with a rich career in top European championships. He has won titles and awards with clubs such as Dynamo, Zenit (Kazan), Cucine Lube, and Trentino. Although Bulgaria has repeatedly relied on him as a leader of the national team, his performance in the Russian championship brings him deserved recognition from local specialists as well.

If Russia could indeed include foreigners in its squad, Sokolov's presence would provide even more depth and attacking options. Although Russian opposites are also at a high level, the Bulgarian has the advantage of his international experience and the ability to lead the team in crucial moments.

What is the reality?

Of course, such a scenario is purely theoretical, as Sokolov was a key figure for the Bulgarian national team. Nevertheless, the recognition from Bryansky is yet another proof of his class and status as one of the best opposites in the world.

While Russian volleyball is looking for ways to return to the big international stage, one fact remains indisputable – Tsvetan Sokolov is already a star in the Russian championship, and if it were up to Bryansky, he would also be part of the "Sbornaya".
