Two teams from Levski's strong group in the Champions League are in the 1/4 finals

In the 2024/2025 season of the men's CEV Champions League Volley, Group E included the teams of Levski Sofia (Bulgaria), Chaumont VB 52 (France), BR Volleys Lüneburg (Germany), and Jastrzębski Węgiel (Poland). After the completion of the group stage, each of these teams took a different path in the European tournaments.

Performance of teams from Group E:

  1. Levski Sofia (Bulgaria):Despite their efforts, Levski failed to advance beyond the Champions League group stage. The team faced strong opponents and gained valuable experience at the highest European level.

  2. Chaumont VB 52 (France):Led by former Bulgaria national team coach Silvano Prandi, Chaumont demonstrated stable play in the group stage. After their elimination from the Champions League, the team continued its participation in the CEV Cup, where in the 1/4 finals they lost to European champion Trento.

  3. BR Volleys Lüneburg (Germany):The German team, which qualified for the playoff phase of the tournament, managed to reach the 1/4 finals of the most prestigious European club competition, dramatically overcoming another German team, Berlin. After a 3:2 success in the first match of the 'German' derby, they lost the return match with the same score, but prevailed 15-13 in the golden set. In the 1/4 final, Lüneburg will face Poland's Zawiercie.

  4. Jastrzębski Węgiel (Poland):The Polish team showed impressive form, not only overcoming the group stage but also finishing unequivocally in first place in the group, securing direct qualification to the 1/4 finals, where they will play against the winner of the playoff pairing Olympiacos/Saint-Nazaire VB Atlantique, with the Greeks winning the first match 3:1, and the second match between the two teams taking place today.

Analyzing the achievements of the teams from Group E, it becomes clear that this group was one of the strongest in this year's Champions League. The successes of Chaumont, BR Volleys Lüneburg, and Jastrzębski Węgiel in European tournaments highlight the high level of competition that Levski Sofia faced. This participation provided the Bulgarian team invaluable experience and an opportunity for growth on the international stage.
