Denis Karyagin out of the CEV Cup after Asseco Resovia Rzeszów eliminated Fenerbahçe and advanced to the semifinals

Asseco Resovia Rzeszów put an end to the dispute, eliminating Fenerbahçe Medicana Istanbul 3:1 (17:25, 25:19, 25:21, 25:19) in the CEV Cup quarter-finals. The Poles dominated most of the match, and Karol Kłos played a brilliant game, deservedly being chosen as MVP.

Fenerbahçe started strong, but Resovia responded emphatically 🚀

The match began evenly – both teams traded points, and neither managed to pull ahead. However, Fenerbahçe's strong serves made the difference, and Earvin N'Gapeth was in his element (16:12). Stephen Boyer tried to keep Resovia in the game, but Kaan Gürbüz and Denis Karyagin made things extremely difficult for the hosts. The Turks closed the first set 17:25 after a service error from the Polish team.

Asseco Resovia awoke – the block started working! 🏗️

The second set was a mirror image of the first – this time Resovia controlled the events. Tuomas Sammelvuo instructed his team to attack more through the center, and Karol Kłos was unstoppable in both attack and block.

  • The Poles took a 5:2 lead and did not relinquish control.

  • Klemen Čebulj was magnificent from the service line (19:12).

  • Fenerbahçe tried to narrow the gap, but Resovia's block was impenetrable.

After an error by Karyagin, the score was leveled 1:1 after 25:19.

Karol Kłos's show – Resovia takes control 🔥

Fenerbahçe tried to come back in the third set, but Boyer and Wasina set a high tempo in attack. The hosts' block was again key – N'Gapeth and Gürbüz were neutralized, and Kłos gave his team a comfortable 21:17 lead.

Set point came after a killer attack by Kłos, and after an error by Fenerbahçe, Asseco Resovia was already leading 2:1.

Fourth set: Resovia's reserves are just as strong 👏

Both coaches gave their reserve players a chance to shine. The Poles continued to dictate the game, and Jakub Bucki scored an ace for 11:8.

Łukasz Kozub and Bartosz Zając added great serves, and the young receiver Zając made a strong impression (20:13).

Fenerbahçe made a late surge (17:22), but the Turks' attack was not up to par. An error by Karyagin gave match point, and Adrian Staszewski closed the match with an ace!

Denis Karyagin with an episodic appearance 🎯

Bulgarian international Denis Karyagin started as a starter and played a key role in the first set, but then came in episodically. He executed four serves but failed to score points.
