Bulgarian women's champion Maritsa (Plovdiv) will start their Champions League campaign in the second qualifying round against Montenegrin Herceg Novi.
The first matches are scheduled for October 20-22, and the return legs will be played between October 27 and 29.
Should they defeat the Montenegrin champion, the Plovdiv team will qualify for the third qualifying round, where they will face the winner of the tie between Azerbaijani Turan (Tovuz) and Croatian Mladost (Zagreb). The matches of this phase are scheduled for November 3-5 and 10-12.
Only the winner of the third qualifying round will secure a spot among the 20 teams in the Champions League group stage.
After the draw, both possible scenarios for Maritsa, should they qualify, are now clear. If they overcome the two qualifying rounds, the Bulgarian champion will be placed either in Group A with VakifBank (Turkey), Uni Opole (Poland), and Mulhouse (France), or in Group D with Savino Del Bene Scandicci (Italy), Eczacibasi (Turkey), and Tent Obrenovac (Serbia). To which of the two groups the qualifier winner will be assigned will become clear after the finalization of the bracket.
