Chaumont dethroned Montpellier and Mitko Dimitrov from the first place

Chaumont took the lead in the French league (with one match less played), after defeating visiting Montpellier and Mitko Dimitrov 3:1 (23:25, 25:22, 27:25, 25:20) in a match from the 22nd round of the Marmara SpikLeague. Thus, Silvano Prandi's boys, who played twice against Levski Sofia, will travel for the second leg of the CEV Cup quarter-finals against Trento as league leaders.

Before this match, Montpellier was at the top of the table, and before the start of the playoffs, they still have to play against Tourcoing, Poitiers, and Tours, all three of which are at the top of the standings.

Loïc Le Marec's players failed to take any points from their away game at Chaumont, despite having the opportunity after taking the lead and potentially making it 2:1, but the hosts managed to fight back in the third set and closed it 27:25. Affected by this turn of events, Mitko Dimitrov and company could not make a comeback and lost the lead in the championship. The national opposite hitter finished with 11 points (1 ace, 1 block).
