Thus, from the group that was preparing in Samokov for the past 10 days, outside hitter Georgi Tatarov and opposite hitter Dimitar Dimitrov are dropped. Setter Lyuboslav Telkiyski is listed as a reserve player.
Blengini relies on five outside hitters – Martin Atanasov, Asparuh Asparuhov, Rusi Zhelev, Denislav Bardarov, and Zhasmin Velichkov. The only prominent opposite hitter in the squad remains Venislav Antov, with Alexandar Nikolov also able to be used in this position if necessary.
In Chicago, the Bulgarian national team will have an extremely tough schedule. On July 15, they start against Poland, on July 17 they face China, on July 19 they play against host USA, and on July 20 (Bulgarian time) they will conclude their participation in the preliminary phase with a match against Olympic champion France. These four matches will determine whether Gianlorenzo Blengini's team will manage to fight for a spot in the final tournament of the Nations League.
