Italy's women's national team secured participation in the final tournament of the Volleyball Nations League in Macau after defeating Belgium 3:0 (25:20, 25:16, 25:19) in their second match of the third week.
Julio Velasco's squad controlled the match and did not allow the Belgians to win a set. Italy had a significant advantage in blocks – 12 against 4, as well as in serves – 7 aces against 2.
The top scorer in the match was Ekaterina Antropova with 22 points, recording 6 aces and 5 successful blocks. Sara Fahr added 11 points, while Paola Egonu came off the bench and finished with 6.
Antropova started as the opposite hitter, while Egonu entered during the double substitution together with Francesca Cambi. Italy won the first set 25:20, dominated the second 25:16, and closed out the match after 25:19 in the third set.
With the three points against Belgium, Italy mathematically secured their participation in the VNL Finals in Macau, China.
