Plamen Konstantinov to Tema Sport: There is light at the end of the tunnel for the men's national team, we are interested in Moni Nikolov

Former head coach of our national volleyball team, Plamen Konstantinov, sees light at the end of the tunnel for our representative team. Gibona gave an exclusive interview for "Tema Sport", in which he shared that there are some positions that need to be emphasized so that Bulgaria can once again have a strong men's squad.

"It is evident that some players who came out of the youth national team are growing and have a future. Unfortunately, we have deficits in certain positions and we need to fill them. I can boldly say that we have 5-6 good players in the outside hitter position, but a small number of promising middle blockers. There are far fewer of them. For years, we have had a problem filling the libero position. We always turn to experienced players who are 38-40 years old, pulling them to play for the national team. There are young guys who should be given a chance and this niche should be filled. For many years we had a big problem with setters. It always revolved around one person. For quite a few years we have had a problem replacing an opposite hitter like Tsvetan Sokolov or having some competition in that position. I'm talking at a high level. And the fact that we have 5-6 outside hitters doesn't mean we have a team. To have a team, you need to have enough quality players in all positions. And if we manage to fill these gaps, then we will have chances to fight for participation in major forums and the next Olympics," Konstantinov said.
The former head coach confirmed the information about Lokomotiv Novosibirsk's interest in Simeon Nikolov. At this stage, there is nothing more than what Vladimir Nikolov exclusively reported from America tovolleyweek.bgthat Moni is also attracting interest from other clubs, but he will focus on college.
