Parapunov entered for Skra Bełchatów in the impressive victory over Warta Zawiercie

PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów recorded an impressive 3:1 (25:22, 17:25, 25:22, 25:19) victory against second-placed Warta Zawiercie in the 25th round of the Polish PlusLiga. The hosts demonstrated effectiveness in attack and stability in key moments, and the Bulgarian opposite Radoslav Parapunov received playing time in the second set, trying to help the team.

Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie had the chance to sit in the leader's chair in PlusLiga, at least for a few hours. However, the plans failed, and the match in Bełchatów ended with an unexpected loss for the favorites. Michał Winiarski's team managed to win only one set in the match against PGE GiEK Skra. The volleyball players from Bełchatów, under the guidance of Gheorghe Crețu and cheered on by a full hall of fans, caused another sensation and moved closer to participating in the PlusLiga playoffs.

Last week was full of excellent news for Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie fans. Polish executives announced the extension of contracts with coach Michał Winiarski and captain Mateusz Bieniek. However, this did not lead to a good result. In the previous round, PGE GiEK Skra sensationally defeated Jastrzębski Węgiel as well.

Parapunov in play at a difficult moment for Skra

The first set was even, but at the end, Skra imposed their will with effective counterattacks. In the second set, Warta showed strong serving and blocking, taking a convincing 18:10 lead. At this point, the home team's coach brought Radoslav Parapunov into play. The Bulgarian could not turn the tide, making an error on his only serve andrealizing 2 out of 5 attacks (40% efficiency), but nevertheless showed aggression in attack. Warta equalized the sets at 25:17.

Comeback and decisive finish

In the third set, Skra stabilized their game, and Viktor Nowak's successful serves reversed the score. Pavle Perić played a crucial role, helping secure the 25:22 success. In the fourth set, the hosts completely dominated, taking a 9:3 lead and effortlessly closing the match at 25:19.

Skra continues to fight for a higher position, while Warta might lose its place at the top of the table.
