Italian powerhouse Modena Volley will play in the CEV Cup tournament in the 2026/27 season. The news was officially announced by the club after the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) approved its request to be included in the competition.
Initially, Modena had secured participation in the Challenge Cup after winning the playoffs for fifth place in the Italian SuperLega. However, instead of the third strongest European club tournament, the team will compete in the CEV Cup, which is second in prestige after the Champions League. There, Modena will be the second Italian representative along with Piacenza, which secured its place in the competition through sporting merit.
Modena last participated in the CEV Cup in the 2022/23 season, when they won the trophy – one of the most significant achievements in the club's recent history.
The draw for the tournament will be held on July 15 at 12:00, and will be broadcast live on CEV's official YouTube channel. Modena will then learn their first opponent in the competition.
Currently, the club has not specified which vacant spot they will occupy in the tournament. It is expected that after CEV publishes the final list of participants, it will become clear which club or federation has freed up the quota, thanks to which Modena will participate in the CEV Cup.
