Fenerbahce Medicana suffered a loss in the first match of the CEV Cup quarterfinals, falling 3-1 to Asseco Resovia Rzeszow. The match was competitive, with set scores of 22-25, 25-18, 15-25, and 23-25 in favor of the visitors.
The first set ended with a minimal lead for Fenerbahce Medicana - 25-22, but then Asseco Resovia Rzeszow won the next three sets with 25-18, 25-15, and 25-23, finishing the match with a victory.
Bartosz Bednorz of the visitors was outstanding with 25 points (5 aces, 1 block). Gürbüz scored 19 for the hosts, with star Ngapeth finishing with 13 (2 aces, 1 block). Denis Karyagin made sporadic appearances in the first four sets but did not score.
Only two sets won separate the team from Rzeszow from qualifying among the top four teams in the tournament.
