Fenerbahçe Medicana Women's Volleyball Team achieved an important 3:1 (19-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-16) victory against VakıfBank in the derby of the 20th round of the Vodafone Sultans League. With this success, the "Yellow Angels" recorded their 17th victory in the championship and temporarily topped the standings.
Comeback after a strong start by VakıfBank
Fenerbahçe started the match with the following lineup: Eda Erdem, Aslı Kalaç, Ana Cristina, Bojana Drča, Melissa Vargas, Arina Fedorovtseva and libero Gizem Örge. Despite strong attacks by Vargas and Fedorovtseva, VakıfBank imposed its will in the first set and won it 25-19.
In the second set, however, the "Yellow Angels" came out transformed, dominated completely and equalized the score with a 25-13 win, thanks to powerful hits by Arina and Vargas.
The third set was more even, with both teams fighting point for point. Nevertheless, captain Eda Erdem and key points from Vargas tipped the scales in favor of Fenerbahçe, who closed the set 25-22 and took a 2-1 lead.
In the fourth set, Fenerbahçe continued its convincing performance and left no chances for VakıfBank, winning 25-16 and thus the match 3-1.
Hristina Vuchkova briefly entered the game in the first and third sets but did not score any points. Elitsa Vasileva did not participate in the match. Melissa Vargas scored 25 points (3 aces).

For VakıfBank, the Russian Marina Markova was above all with 19 points (1 ace, 3 blocks).
With this victory, Fenerbahçe Medicana topped the standings and demonstrated serious ambitions for the title. In their next match, the team will host Bahçelievler Belediyespor in the quarterfinals of the Women's Volleyball Cup on February 12.
