Delibosov Shines in Two Historic Northridge Victories

Stiliyan Delibosov played two consecutive very strong matches in the NCAA championship.
The silver medalist from the European Men's U20 Championshipscored 12 points (3 blocks), registering a memorable attack efficiency of 81.8%,helping the 16th-ranked CSUN (California State University, Northridge) team sweep Dominican University New York 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-16) in a match played Friday at the Premier America Credit Union Arena.


With this victory, CSUN's record is now 8-2 for the season. This is the Matadors' best start in the first 10 matches since 2010, when CSUN was also 8-2 after 10 games.

Again, the Bulgarian was the basis of CSUN's impressive 3-1 victory over #10 Pepperdine on Saturday night at Firestone Fieldhouse, ending a streak of 13 consecutive losses against the 'Waves'. This is the Matadors' first success in Malibu since 2011, and with a 9-2 record for the season, they continue to match the 2010 team for the best start in 15 years.

Jalen Phillips was the offensive leader with 19 points, including four aces.Bulgarian talent Stiliyan Delibosov had a strong match with 13 points (five blocks) and an impressive attack efficiency of 61.5%.
CSUN showed stability in the first two sets, winning them 25:22 and 25:20 respectively. In the third set, the 'Waves' brought back the intrigue with 25:20, but the 'Matadors' closed out the match in the fourth game with 25:23, after crucial points from Phillips and Delibosov.
Words from head coach Theo Edwards:
'It was a great win against a very strong opponent. Stiliyan played exceptionally, they couldn't find a way to stop him. Joao was also incredible, and at the end of the match, we saw true team spirit,' shared the coach.
CSUN returns home for a six-match homestand, starting with Jessup University on February 14.
