Spacer's Toulouse's playoff ambitions suffered a serious blow after they lost 3:1 (25:20, 25:17, 16:25, 25:15) as guests to Cannes in the 20th round of the French SpikeLigue. Despite their good form and a streak of nine wins in their last eleven matches, Toulouse failed to cope with the team from the French Riviera, which showed stable play and controlled the course of the match.
After their successful performance in the French Cup and their qualification for the semi-finals, Spacer's had hopes of continuing their winning streak, but Cannes proved to be an insurmountable obstacle.
The hosts started the match confidently, dictating the tempo in the first two sets, in which they gave their opponent no chance.
In the third set, Spacer's showed a reaction and reduced the score after a categorical 25:16, but Cannes did not allow the comeback to continue.
In the fourth set, the hosts again took the initiative and closed the match with a convincing 25:15, securing a valuable success in the fight for a higher position in the standings.
Toulouse's Bulgarian middle blocker Iliya Petkov finished the match with 7 points and an impressive 88% attacking efficiency, but failed to record a single block, which proved to be a problem for the visitors in the battle at the net.

With this defeat, Spacer's take a step back in the playoff battle and will have to look for a quick return to winning ways in the next rounds.
