Bulgarian opposite hitter Kaloyan Valchinov will officially continue his career with Italian EnergyTime Spike Devils (Campobasso). The club confirmed that the 22-year-old volleyball player will wear the red and blue jersey in the 2026/27 season as well, after being one of the pleasant surprises in the past A3 Series championship.
Valchinov is the second officially confirmed player in the squad for the new season after libero Consoni. The Bulgarian left an excellent impression in his debut year in Italy, finishing as the eighth highest-scoring player in the entire league and fifth in points scored in the Blue Group.
“This was my first season away from home, but I must admit that I appreciated absolutely everything. The closeness of the people, the support of the fans, the attitude of the club and the president. Everyone made this season special for me. Now I want to repay the trust with even better performances,” Valchinov told the club's website.
Despite his strong individual statistics, the Bulgarian international does not attach great importance to statistics.
“I don't look at the numbers. The only important thing for me is to always give my maximum for the team and in this way repay the respect and support I felt throughout the season,” added the opposite hitter.
His ambitions for the new championship are more than serious.
“Our goal is to build upon what we achieved last season and fight for the top. I want to win this championship and I believe we have a team capable of doing it. We have a very experienced setter and high-class players. Therefore, we must strive for more and develop both individually and as a team,” Valchinov stated unequivocally.
The Bulgarian also did not hide his good impressions of the Italian championship.
“I knew I would be playing in the third tier of Italian volleyball, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and level of the championship. In my opinion, this is the strongest league among all secondary championships in Europe. Every team has experienced and quality volleyball players, so in every match, you have to be at your maximum level,” added the Bulgarian opposite hitter.
