Krisyian Tytriyski finished with a team-high 15 points (1 ace, 2 blocks) in Hawaii's five-set victory over #9 Stanford yesterday in the first of two non-conference matches at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Warriors (9-0) remained undefeated on the year and extended their positive streak against the Cardinal to 12 matches, including 10 consecutive at home. An audience of over 6800 people witnessed a hard-fought match, including a decisive fifth set, before setter Tread Rosenthal's finishing point.
Center Kurt Nusterer's serve proved crucial in the match. He made two aces during an 8-0 run in the third set, which boosted UH's comeback in the third set, and his ace in the fifth set capped a three-point run that gave the Warriors a 7-6 lead.
In total, the Hawaii team recorded 11 aces, three of which were by Nusterer and Tread Rosenthal.
