The Polish national team will receive a significant reinforcement for today's match against Germany in the Volleyball Nations League. Head coach Nikola Grbić has included stars Wilfredo León and Kevin Sasak in the squad for the first time this season, as they had not played in this year's edition of the tournament until now.

In addition to them, libero Jakub Popiwczak also returns to the squad, and for all three, these will be their first official appearances for Poland in the VNL 2026.
The news is particularly interesting for Bulgarian fans as well. León and Sasak are teammates with the captain of the Bulgarian national team, Alex Grozdanov, at Poland's Bogdanka LUK Lublin. This trio was among the key figures in winning the historic Polish Cup last season.
Up until now, Grbić had relied on a younger and more experimental squad, but for the home tournament in Gliwice, he is gradually starting to include his biggest stars. Thus, Poland will look significantly different compared to the first week of the tournament.
The Poles have already played two dramatic matches in Gliwice, defeating Belgium and Turkey both by 3:2. Today against Germany, they will try to achieve a third consecutive success in front of their home crowd, now with Wilfredo León and Kevin Sasak in the squad. We remind you that two other teammates of Grozdanov are also on Poland's roster – setter Marcin Komenda and outside hitter Mikołaj Sawicki.
The only bad news for the hosts is the injury to setter Jan Firlej, who is out of the squad due to a calf injury. Marcel Bakaj has been called up in his place.
The match between Poland and Germany starts today at 6:00 PM Bulgarian time and is one of the most intriguing on the schedule for the seventh competitive day of the second week of the Volleyball Nations League.
