And officially: Boris Nachev will continue his career in Gioia del Colle

Bulgarian national team's middle blocker Boris Nachev is officially a new signing for Italian club JoyVolley Gioia del Colle, which will compete in Serie A2 during the 2026/27 season. Even before the official confirmationVolleyWeek.bgfirst reported on the 22-year-old national player's new destination, and today the Italian club announced his acquisition.
Nachev is currently in Ljubljana, where he is part of Bulgaria's squad for the second week of the Volleyball Nations League.
The Bulgarian international, 202 cm tall, arrives in Gioia del Colle after one season in Italy's top league with Sonnepar Padova, where he made his SuperLega debut and gained valuable experience in one of the strongest championships in the world.
Before his transfer to Italy, Nachev defended the colors of Cherno More Bask, with whom he went through his entire journey to men's volleyball. The Varna club was where he established himself as one of Bulgaria's most promising middle blockers.
Nachev also has significant successes with the national teams. In 2021, he won a silver medal at the U19 World Championship, and a year later, he secured a bronze at the U21 European Championship and a silver at the European Youth Olympic Festival with the U19 national team.
In Gioia del Colle, they believe that the young Bulgarian will be one of the most interesting middle blockers in Serie A2. Club president Gianni D'Elia did not hide his satisfaction with the transfer. In the new season, the Bulgarian international will play with jersey number 1, and his task will be to help coach Francesco Denora Caporuso's team fight for the top positions in Serie A2.

"We are very pleased with Boris's acquisition. We are talking about a young player with enormous potential, who already knows the level and rhythm of the Italian championship. I am convinced that he will establish himself as one of the most interesting volleyball players in the entire Serie A2."
Nachev himself also sent his first message to the fans of his new club:
"I want to greet our supporters and tell them that I am extremely excited about this new challenge."
