FIVB will ask for teams of up to 14 players for the Los Angeles Olympics

Increasing the Olympic roster for volleyball teams to 14 players will be the main goal of the March meeting between the new president of the International Volleyball Federation, Fabio Azevedo, and representatives of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
This was reported by the president of the Polish Volleyball Federation, Sebastian Swiderski.

"I spoke with Fabio and he said that changes for the Olympics are very important to him. If we fail to secure the participation of 14 players, at least the 13+1 option should be used, meaning the fourteenth player should remain a reserve, as was the case in Paris.
It's strange for me to hear the IOC's claims that there is no space in the Olympic Village. In Los Angeles, at the request of the organizers, five new sports will be added (cricket, lacrosse, softball/baseball, flag football, and squash), and if problems with space still arise, we are ready, as in Paris, to accommodate part of the technical staff outside the village and provide the necessary spaces for the players. The important thing is, as in other tournaments, that 14-person teams can participate in the Olympics," Swiderski was quoted by the Telegram channel Volleyball Live.
Let's recall that at the Paris Olympics, the roster was 12+1. The reserve player during the Olympic tournament could replace any player on the roster due to injury or illness. However, in such a case, the substituted athlete could no longer return to the tournament.
