The 18-year-old Deyan Marinov continues his career abroad. The talented opposite spiker will play for Swedish Södertelge (Södertelge VBK) during the 2026/27 season, the club announced.
Marinov, 204 cm tall and born on July 11, 2007, also came through the CSKA Sofia academy. He has been a member of Bulgaria's youth national teams ", with the U17 selection, he won silver at the European Championship in Podgorica in 2023, and in the summer of 2025, he played at the U19 World Championship in Tashkent, where Bulgaria finished in sixth place.
Södertelge was founded in 1973 and has been a permanent participant in the Elitserien ", the highest level of men's volleyball in Sweden ", since the 2011/12 season. The club has not yet won a national title.
The team is led by Bulgarian Martin Zhivkov, who was honored as Coach of the Season for 2025/26 in the Swedish elite league. The former setter has a rich international career as a head and assistant coach in Austria, Romania, Belgium, and Bulgaria, and his presence at the club likely facilitated the young national player's transfer.
"I am very happy for the opportunity to play for Södertelge. I will give my best to help the team during the season ", and why not win the title," Marinov stated to the club media.
