Cherno More shocked Neftochimik in the Black Sea derby

Cherno More surprisingly defeated Neftochimic in the maritime derby, which took place in Hristo Borisov Hall in Varna. Dani Milushev's boys endured the two points with a result of 3:2 (17:25, 26:24, 25:20, 23:25, 15:12), after two hours and 15 minutes of play.
The beginning of the match in no way foreshadowed its dramatic ending, as the visitors started strong and closed the first game with 25:17. An equalization followed, with Varna taking the initiative and leading throughout the entire second set, allowing an equalization at the end of the game, but getting the first game point. Bourgas equalized through their new addition David Krastev, but the hosts managed to take the next two points after a successful attack and a service error by the opponent.
After an even start to the third game, the visitors managed to take the lead until the 16th point, when the first equalization came. After three more ties, Varna reached the 20th point first and did not lose the initiative until the end, taking a 2:1 lead in sets, after an attack error by Krastev.
In the fourth game, the hosts also took the lead, after which, pressed against the wall, Bourgas recovered from the shock and managed to send the match into a tie-break.
The last game will be remembered for nervous play and errors - 4 for each team. The decisive error proved to be the service error of Neftochimic's other new addition Apostol Boyanov, which eliminated the visitors' advantage in the score, and from 11:10 it was equalized. Medenis and Listanskis played well, alternating aces and successful blocks, to bring the score to 14:12 for the hosts. Bourgas managed to score only one more point, after which followed a central attack by national player Nachev and the surprise of the round was a fact.
Four Cherno More players finished with double-digit scores - Janis Medenis - 17 points (3 aces, 1 block), Simeon Dimitrov - 16 points (1 ace, 2 blocks), Valdas Listanskis - 14 (3 aces, 3 blocks) and Boris Nachev - 12 points (2 blocks).
Axel Truhchev had the most points in the match - 23 (1 ace, 2 blocks), with only Apostol Boyanov adding a double-digit score - 10 points (3 aces, 1 block).
The MVP of the match was the Spanish setter Cesar Perez.
